Imperfection is Perfection

Published: Jan 28, 2015

“She must see that imperfection is perfection to a beautiful perspective.” - Time, Happiness in Handfulls (Oct 1st)

That "she" was me, the perfectionist. Wanting, wishing, and hoping for perfection was constant. My mind closed, and the lives of others, judged, as I walked along searching and holding my expectations high. When writing Time in October, I had a turning point where I realized how beautiful the world can be through a different perspective and imagine what I called it?

The Beautiful Perspective

*cough* so original *cough*

SO here it is. You are walking along the street, passing people as your feet tap the ground in rhythm, a rhythm quite unique to you. Earphone in one ear, listening to your favorite song, other ear free as you allow your surroundings in, multitasking at its simplest. You look to your left and you watch the cars drive slowly down the street as they splash water up onto the sidewalk. You look to your right, you see building after building. You tilt your head up, to see the rain falling from the sky. Ahead you see an intersection, one that you will have to cross. You approach, check both ways for cars, and you walk until hitting safety as you exit "the box". You reach your destination, cold, soaked, and tired, but what could be more perfect?

Ooooh I know!!! TEN MILLION DOLLARS. Ten million dollars would be more perfect. One million to my parents, one million to my sister, and one million towards furthering myself and my close friends' educations, debt free. Seven million remaining, hmm, I guess I'll save it, but then what? Buy a nice house I didn't earn? Buy a fancy car I have no clue how to drive? Become a member of our society in a status that was just given to me? No. Absolutely not. What may seem like perfection, is actually not, because absolute perfection never fades, always has a glimmer of sunshine, and can never be placed in the same category as material items.

So what then? What is perfection?

IMPERFECTION.

Perfection is imperfection to a beautiful perspective. The beauty of life tends to strike us when we view an amazing piece of scenery. Beauty comes not only from the most perfect landscape, but by realizing that even the dumpiest of situations can be viewed as beautiful.

Perfection is imperfection to a warm cognizance. The warmth of life comes from those we care about, those we tend after, and those we love. Love comes not from finding the perfect person, but by finding an imperfect person and viewing them as perfect.

Perfection is imperfection to an insightful mind. Our minds are amazing, truly capable of more than we fully realize. When your mind becomes open, you will see such insight. Your insightful mind will show you the most beauty and the most love. You mind is the key to your happiness.

SO that same walk, here it is. You are walking along the street, a street carved by bricks, each laid by hand, as you imagine who walked before you. You pass people, but not just anyone, people with stories, quirks, and dreams, as your feet tap the ground in rhythm, a rhythm quite unique to you. Earphone in one ear, listening to your favorite song, other ear free as you allow your surroundings in, multitasking at its simplest, happy that you have ability to do this. You look to your left and you watch the cars drive slowly down the street as they splash water up onto the sidewalk, water which reminds you that you are human. You look to your right, you see building after building, lining the street like a brigade, yet each one different. You tilt your head up, to see the rain falling magically from the sky as the trees catch the Earth's hydration. Ahead you see an intersection, one that you will have to cross, just like a river. You approach, check both ways for cars, and you walk until hitting safety as you exit "the box". You reach your destination, cold, yes, but warm. You reach your destination, soaked, yes, but layered as you remove your jacket. You reach your destination, tired, yes, but awake. Awake, because you are alive.

Each situation in life can be looked at this way, as I am only giving you a generic example. Your drive to work, your walk to class, a day on the couch, or even a day with a friend can be viewed with a new perspective, one that I promise will never let you down.

I do not know every one of you but what I do know is you possess a warm cognizance, an insightful mind, and a special perspective: a beautiful perspective. Imperfect people, YOU are perfect, because you have one thing that no one else has. You have you. You, the person that has eyes, eyes which see your world, create your vision, and mold your story. A story that is lived only as you can. Don't sweat the imperfections, because that's what absolutely makes you perfect.
